Philippine Fashion Week Holiday 2012: MENSWEAR Collection

Twelve notable fashion designers take on the stage with their new menswear collection. Each had it's own unique quality that sets it apart from other designer's collection; dark and mysterious, to crisp and clean, to colorful and loud. The collection from each designers didn't pale in comparison to the other.

Here are some of my personal favorites:

ANTHONY NOCOM
Anthony Nocom's collection clearly caters to the new age of young professional men. From tailored suits to structured blazers, any man wearing a Nocom signature will look sharp any time of the day. The looks does not only take you through the day, but can also save you the worries of what to wear during an unplanned night-outs.

DODJIE BATU
It's a war between patterns with Dodjie Batu's collection. Business suits and dress shirts cut in very peculiar ways sashayed down the ramp one after the other.  The collection may irk some, but it may also win some over with it's quirky take on the usual clothes for men.

DREI SORIANO
Wolverine will be so happy when he sees this collection from Drei Soriano. Nothing else makes a man tougher than a leather jacket. Soriano's new collection does just that - just with a chic twist. Combining the roughness and toughness the leather gives with the instant chic gold does to an outfit. The collection is nothing short of "to-KILL-for".

FREDERICK POLICARPIO
Frederick Policarpio's collection didn't veer away too much out of the ordinary, but still managed to look modern and NOW. With it's masterful use of colors and asymmetrical cuts, the collection is nowhere near ordinary, but chic.

JESSON CAPUCHINO
Street wear has never looked this good. The simplicity it exudes and it's wearability are a definite plus, coupled with his use of chunky metallic skull neckpieces, Capuchino's collection is safe to say, my favorite from the HOLIDAY 2012 MENSWEAR COLLECTION. The piece that took Capuchino's collection to over-the-top greatness was his Spanish Matador-inspired bolero (bottom-right).

EDGAR BUYAN
Think about the images we see in a kaleidoscope, tone it down a bit, set it in a neutral shade of khaki, what do you get? Edgar Buyan's collection. His collection boasts pieces that are whimsical and fun.

RONAN OPINA
What I love about Opiña's collection is how it upgraded menswear classics into something modern and romantic. Who would've thought that men would look good wearing lace? Opiña shows just that - and more.

ZXANDER TAN
Armed with his impeccable skill in tailoring, Zxander Tan took us into another  dimension with his collection. Showcasing pieces that are reminiscent of the armors used by warriors from the outer space and textures that seemingly mimic the skin like that of a reptile, Zxander Tan blew the competition away in a heartbeat.
